Vitamin B6 Food Grade
Chemical properties:
White crystalline powder, odorless, bitter and sour, sublimated by heating. The dried product is stable to air and light, and the aqueous solution is gradually oxidized and discolored when meeting the air, and the oxidation is accelerated as the pH value increases. Mp205-209°C (decomposition), with maximum absorption (0.1mol/LHCl) at a wavelength of 290nm±1nm. Easily soluble in water (1:4.5), the solution is acidic, slightly soluble in ethanol (1:90) and acetone, insoluble in ether and chloroform. Low toxicity, LD50 (rat, oral) 4000mg/kg.
Use:
Pyridoxine is one of the vitamins of the B6 complex; present in many foodstuffs (yeast, liver and cereals). Pyridoxine has a role in transporting protein Bsu1, Pyridoxine contributes to thiamine uptake; characterization of thiamine (vitamin B1) transporter Thi9 from Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
