Altana acquires closure materials business from Henkel
ALTANA has acquired Henkel’s closure materials business. As a result, the specialty chemicals group is strengthening its range of PVC-free solutions for the packaging industry in particular. Within the ALTANA Group, the business will be integrated into the ACTEGA division and globally assigned to the Metal Packaging Solutions business line. “With the acquisition of Henkel’s closure materials business, we are continuing to systematically implement our acquisition strategy and our focus on innovative specialty chemicals,” says Martin Babilas, the CEO of ALTANA AG. The acquisition essentially involves the takeover of technologies and customer relationships. “We are thus further expanding our business with sealants for the packaging industry,” explains Thorsten Kröller, head of ALTANA’s ACTEGA division. “The transaction is an ideal addition to our existing product portfolio. With it, we will be able to supply our longstanding and ...

Q
what is the inside of the shower pvc
DevinBryan
SpencerNick
Release Time:
August 11, 2024, 6:34 AM
The term “inside of the shower PVC” typically refers to the internal structure or components of a PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipe or fixture used in a shower setup. PVC is a popular material for plumbing due to its durability, low cost, and resistance to corrosion. Inside a shower PVC pipe, you’ll find a hollow core that allows water to flow through. For fittings like shower heads or valves, the inside may have threads for connecting other parts, gaskets for sealing, and sometimes internal mechanisms for controlling water flow or direction. If you’re dealing with issues such as leaks or low water pressure, inspecting the inside of these components can help identify worn seals or blockages. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning mineral buildup or replacing worn parts, can extend the life of your shower system.

Q
how much is pvc tubing per foot
SpencerNick
GodferyKipling
Release Time:
August 4, 2024, 1:10 PM
The cost of PVC tubing per foot depends on various factors such as diameter, thickness (schedule), and the specific type of PVC material (e.g., rigid, flexible). On average, prices can range from as low as $0.20 to $5.00 or more per foot for standard sizes in the residential market. For example, a 1-inch schedule 40 PVC pipe might cost approximately $0.50 to $0.75 per foot. Prices can significantly increase for larger diameters, thicker schedules like schedule 80, or specialized types like UV-resistant PVC. It’s also worth noting that prices may vary based on local suppliers, the quantity purchased, and current market conditions. For larger projects or specific needs, contacting suppliers directly for quotes is recommended.

Q
how to connect pvc conduit to outdoor breaker box
SpencerNick
HumphreyRaman
Release Time:
July 25, 2024, 2:55 AM
Connecting PVC conduit to an outdoor breaker box requires careful planning and adherence to local electrical codes to ensure safety and functionality. First, ensure that the breaker box has an appropriate knock-out (KO) slot available for the conduit size you’re working with. You’ll need a PVC male adapter that fits your conduit diameter and a matching locknut to secure it. Turn off the main power before starting any work for safety. Drill or punch out the selected KO on the breaker box, then thread the male adapter into the KO from the outside. Secure it on the inside with the locknut. If necessary, apply PVC cement to the inside of the adapter before inserting the conduit to ensure a secure, watertight connection. Remember, working with electrical systems can be dangerous, so if unsure, consult with or hire a professional electrician. Compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations is crucial.

Q
how is pvc leather made
SpencerNick
ColbyMartha
Release Time:
July 21, 2024, 1:43 PM
PVC leather, also known as polyvinic chloride or synthetic leather, is made through a process where PVC is combined with stabilizers (to protect integrity), plasticizers (to make it flexible), and lubricants (to make it workable), and then applied to a base material like cotton or polyester. This composite is then textured and treated to resemble the look and feel of real leather. The process can vary slightly depending on the desired finish, thickness, and flexibility of the PVC leather being produced. Manufacturers can adjust the levels of each component, allowing for a wide range of end products suitable for various applications from automotive upholstery to fashion items. PVC leather offers a cost-effective and animal-friendly alternative to genuine leather, though it’s worth noting it may not have the same durability or breathability as its natural counterpart.

Q
do you need pvc primer for sharkbite
SpencerNick
MandyLamb
Release Time:
July 16, 2024, 5:54 AM
No, you do not need a PVC primer for SharkBite fittings. SharkBite connections are designed for ease of use and versatility, working across multiple types of piping, including PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, and HDPE. They rely on a push-fit mechanism that seals the connection without the need for solvents, soldering, or glues like those used in PVC or CPVC installations. Therefore, priming, which is essential in preparing PVC or CPVC pipes for solvent welding, is not applicable when using SharkBite fittings. This makes SharkBite a practical choice for quick repairs or installations where minimizing downtime and simplifying the process is crucial.

Release Time:
April 10, 2024, 1:13 PM
PVC, or Polyvinyl Chloride, is a synthetic plastic polymer widely used in construction, healthcare, electronics, and more due to its durability, ease of manufacturing, and versatility. It comes in two basic forms: rigid (sometimes abbreviated as uPVC for unplasticized PVC), which is used in construction for pipes and window frames, and flexible, which is used in applications like electrical cable insulation and clothing. PVC is notable for its resistance to environmental degradation, chemicals, and water, making it a preferred choice for a wide range of applications. However, its production and disposal raise environmental concerns due to the release of toxic chemicals, leading to an increased focus on recycling and finding more sustainable alternatives.
