Clariant develops dark colors for plastic packaging without using carbon black
Clariant continues to develop new technologies to improve the recyclability of plastics and provide packaging and product developers with more color options. Recent developments include darker and darker colors that require the use of carbon black pigments, as well as the inability of near-infrared (NIR) sensors used in automated polymer sorting systems at recycling centers to detect carbon black pigments. But with new color concepts developed at Clariant's Colororworks design and technology center near Milan, Italy, it is now possible to explore darker, more mysterious color spaces without using carbon black. The development of polyester (PET), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) in both virgin and post-consumer recycled (PCR) form is ongoing. In most automated sorting systems, infrared light strikes the plastic material and the system can sort a variety of materials because different polymers reflect the light in different ways. Unfortunately, the carbo...

The Injection Molding Intensification Ratio is a critical parameter in the injection molding process that describes the relationship between hydraulic pressure and the pressure experienced by the plastic material inside the mold cavity. This ratio is essential because it influences the quality of the molded parts, affecting their surface finish, dimensions, and internal properties. The intensification ratio is determined by the design of the injection molding machine, particularly the diameter of the hydraulic cylinder and the injection plunger. A typical intensification ratio ranges from 10:1 to 20:1. Understanding and controlling this ratio is crucial for optimizing the injection molding process, ensuring the parts meet required specifications, and minimizing defects. Adjusting the hydraulic pressure to achieve the desired cavity pressure requires a good understanding of the machine’s intensification ratio. Manufacturers should ensure their machinery is correctly calibrated and...

pipe size dimensions chart

Release Time:
May 6, 2024, 6:38 AM
Pipe thread sizes are essential for ensuring tight and proper fittings in various applications, including plumbing, gas, and oil pipelines. Thread sizes are usually denoted by Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) and threads per inch (TPI). The sizes range widely, starting from 1/16” up to 24”. The most common thread standards are National Pipe Taper (NPT) and National Pipe Taper Fine (NPTF). An NPT thread ensures a tight seal through the use of a taper, while NPTF threads provide an even tighter seal with the threads themselves. It’s crucial to refer to a comprehensive pipe thread sizes chart when planning or executing any project involving pipe connections to ensure compatibility and leak-free joints.
