Chemplast Sanmar expects better H1 FY22 performance
Chemplast Sanmar Limited CSL), on consolidated basis, expects to register a significant increase in its Revenue for H1FY22, as compared to the same period in the previous financial year. In terms of overall volume, both CSL and its wholly owned subsidiary, Chemplast Cuddalore Vinyls Limited (CCVL), together saw production increase of around 30 – 35% on a YoY basis in H1FY22. Operating margins saw an uptick in H1FY22 compared to H1FY21 due to higher realisations per tonne for the key products such as Specialty Paste PVC resin, Suspension PVC and Caustic soda. Prices continued to ride an upward trajectory due to supply tightness resulting from a confluence of multiple factors such as disruption of chemical operations in the USA on account of hurricane Ida, logistic challenges in Asia, dual control of energy consumption in China, etc. CSL’s highly integrated facilities enable greater value-addition and flexibility in operations resulting in superior yields and, as a result, h...

Q
how to remove excess filler on pvc when dried
NoelGreen
CecilMotley
Release Time:
August 11, 2024, 10:32 AM
Removing excess dried filler from PVC requires careful handling to prevent damage to the surface. Initially, gently scrape off the bulk of the dried filler using a plastic putty knife or a similar non-abrasive tool to avoid scratching the PVC. For stubborn residue, lightly sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 200-400 grit), ensuring to only focus on the filler and minimize contact with the surrounding PVC to avoid scuffing. Afterward, clean the area with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water to remove any filler dust and restore the appearance of the PVC. If sanding is not an option or you’re concerned about marring the surface, applying a small amount of PVC solvent or plastic-safe adhesive remover on the filler can soften it for easier removal; however, test this on an inconspicuous area first to ensure it won’t damage the PVC. Always wear protective gloves and work in a well-ventilated area when dealing with solvents or sanding.

Q
how much pvc wall panel cost
RudolfMarion
CecilMotley
Release Time:
August 7, 2024, 11:32 AM
The cost of PVC wall panels can vary widely depending on the quality, design, thickness, and brand. On average, prices can range from $1.50 to $7 per square foot. Factors influencing the cost include the panel’s durability, aesthetic finishes (such as 3D designs or matte finishes), and whether they are meant for indoor or outdoor use. High-end panels with unique designs or features (waterproof, fire-resistant) tend to be on the pricier side. Additionally, installation costs should be considered, which can fluctuate based on local labor rates and the complexity of the project. For a standard room, it’s prudent to budget for both the material and installation to avoid any unexpected expenses. When planning for PVC wall panel installation, comparing prices from different suppliers and considering long-term durability versus upfront costs can help in making a cost-effective decision.

Q
how long before pressurizing pvc
ChadDalton
CecilMotley
Release Time:
August 5, 2024, 9:24 AM
Before pressurizing newly joined PVC pipes, it’s crucial to allow the adhesive used on the joints to fully cure. Typically, for most PVC adhesive products, a waiting period of at least 15 to 24 hours under normal conditions is recommended to ensure the joints have adequately set. However, this timeframe can vary depending on factors such as the adhesive brand, pipe diameter, and environmental conditions like temperature and humidity. Warmer conditions might expedite the curing process, while cooler temperatures can extend it. Always refer to the adhesive manufacturer’s guidelines for specific cure times. Taking the time to allow for proper curing can prevent leaks and ensure the longevity and safety of the piping system.

Q
does it weaken pvc to store it in attic
MichaeliaStella
CecilMotley
Release Time:
August 5, 2024, 9:00 AM
Storing PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) in an attic can potentially weaken it over time due to the heat and temperature fluctuations commonly found in such spaces. PVC, like many plastics, is susceptible to thermal degradation. High temperatures can accelerate the rate at which the plasticizers in the PVC, which make it flexible, are lost, leading to brittleness. Additionally, significant temperature variations can cause PVC to expand and contract, potentially leading to micro-fractures or warping. While PVC is designed to be durable and withstand environmental stresses, the extreme conditions of an attic, especially during hot summers, can affect its integrity. To mitigate these effects, it’s advisable to store PVC in a more controlled environment or ensure adequate insulation and ventilation in the attic space.

Q
is genova pvc the same thing as regular
CecilMotley
LeifGoldsmith
Release Time:
August 5, 2024, 8:32 AM
Genova PVC is a specific brand of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) products, known for plumbing, gutter, and fencing materials amongst other items. While the fundamental material, PVC, is the same as “regular” non-branded PVC, Genova PVC distinguishes itself through brand guarantees of quality, specific manufacturing processes, or product designs. Therefore, while the chemical composition remains largely consistent with other PVC products, Genova may offer unique specifications or features not found in generic PVC items. It’s essential to review both Genova’s product specifications and those of other PVC products to determine the best fit for a particular project.

Q
is code for pvc cover blocks
KyleJames
CecilMotley
Release Time:
August 5, 2024, 4:07 AM
PVC cover blocks are components used in construction to maintain a specified distance between the reinforcing steel and the formwork to ensure the concrete cover is consistent. There’s no universal code specifically for PVC cover blocks, but their application and specifications must comply with the general standards and codes for reinforced concrete construction in your jurisdiction (e.g., ACI in the USA). The selection of cover blocks, including material type, size, and placement, should meet the performance criteria set by relevant construction codes to ensure durability, structural integrity, and corrosion resistance of the reinforced concrete elements.

Q
is pvc better then pex
BorgGraham

Release Time:
August 3, 2024, 4:14 AM
Determining whether PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is better than PEX (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) hinges on the specific application. PVC, known for its rigidity, is ideal for drain lines and vents due to its durability and resistance to corrosion and chemical wear. However, it’s not suitable for hot water lines. PEX, on the other hand, is flexible, easier to install, especially in retrofit projects, and is resistant to scale and chlorine. It’s excellent for hot and cold water supply lines due to its thermal stability. Yet, it may have a higher upfront cost than PVC. In essence, PVC is preferable for drainage systems, while PEX is superior for water supply lines.

Q
is pvc bendable
CecilMotley
MortimerPollitt
Release Time:
August 1, 2024, 7:20 AM
PVC, or Polyvinyl Chloride, is a versatile plastic used in a wide array of applications from plumbing to cable insulation. In its rigid form, PVC is hard and not easily bendable. However, it can be made more flexible and bendable by the addition of plasticizers. Flexible PVC is used in applications such as electrical cable insulation, inflatable products, and some types of clothing. For rigid PVC pipes or structures, heat can be applied to make them more pliable for bending, though care must be taken not to overheat and damage the material. The ability to bend PVC makes it suitable for various practical uses, requiring customization in shape without compromising the material’s integrity.

Q
is furniture grade pvc stronger than regular pvc
ElsaHarper
CecilMotley
Release Time:
July 29, 2024, 3:26 AM
Furniture grade PVC is designed specifically for structural integrity and aesthetics in furniture construction, making it a popular choice for various projects. Unlike regular PVC, which is primarily manufactured for plumbing and thus focused on water resistance and durability under different environmental conditions, furniture grade PVC comes without the markings found on plumbing PVC pipes and fittings, offering a cleaner look ideal for indoor and outdoor furniture. Additionally, furniture grade PVC often incorporates UV-resistant additives and impact modifiers, enhancing its strength and durability compared to regular PVC. This makes it resist degradation from sunlight and more resilient to cracking or shattering. Despite these differences, it’s essential to note that the fundamental chemical composition of both types of PVC is similar, meaning the core strength can be comparable under certain conditions. However, for applications where aesthetics and resistance to impact and ...

Q
how to form pvc foam
GaryThompson
CecilMotley
Release Time:
July 25, 2024, 5:32 AM
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) foam is created using a process called foaming or expansion, which introduces gas bubbles into the PVC, making it lightweight and giving it a cellular structure. The primary methods to form PVC foam are free foam and celuka foam processes. In the free foam process, the PVC mixture is allowed to expand freely after the gas is introduced, resulting in a softer, more flexible foam. The Celuka process, on the other hand, involves extruding the PVC mixture through a die, followed by immediate cooling in a water bath to form a solid, harder surface layer, with a foamed core. Both methods involve careful control of the temperature, the chemical foaming agents, and the gas introduction (usually nitrogen or carbon dioxide) to achieve the desired density and properties. PVC foam is widely used in construction, advertising, and marine industries for its lightweight, strength, and moisture-resistance.
