Q
do butterfingers have red dye
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
To compensate for modal dispersion, a design known as graded-index fiber is used. Unlike step-index fiber, wherein the refractive index of the core is uniform, graded-index fiber has a core with a varying refractive index that decreases radially from the center to the edge. This design causes light rays to travel at different speeds depending on their path through the fiber, which helps in keeping the light pulses tighter together and reduces modal dispersion. Consequently, graded-index fibers can transmit signals at higher bandwidths over longer distances than their step-index counterparts, making them highly suitable for telecommunications and data transfer applications.
