Q
how do animals obtain amino acids
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Animals obtain amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, through their diets. Proteins consumed are broken down by digestive enzymes into amino acids, which are then absorbed and utilized to produce new proteins required for growth, repair, and other vital processes. Essential amino acids, which cannot be synthesized by the body, must be obtained directly from food. Different animals have varying amino acid requirements based on their physiology. For instance, herbivores often consume a variety of plants to obtain all necessary amino acids, while carnivores typically acquire them by eating other animals. Omnivores have the advantage of a diverse diet, allowing easier acquisition of all essential amino acids. Additionally, some animals can synthesize non-essential amino acids internally from other compounds if not directly ingested.
