Q
is epoxy resin hard to sand
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Epoxy resin is inherently hard and durable after curing, making it more challenging to sand than softer materials. However, it is not impossible to sand. The difficulty level depends on the epoxy's cure time and the tools used. Wet sanding with progressively finer grits of sandpaper can yield a smooth finish, starting with coarse grits (around 120 grit) and moving to finer grits (up to 2000 grit for a polished surface). Power tools, like orbital sanders, can also make the process easier and faster, but care must be taken not to overheat or damage the epoxy surface. Patience and the right technique are key to successfully sanding epoxy resin.
