Q
are high twist yarn properties
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
High twist yarns possess distinct properties due to the increased number of twists per inch/cm during spinning, which affects their behavior and application. These yarns exhibit higher strength and durability as the fibers are more tightly bound, reducing the likelihood of fraying and wear. High twist also impacts the fabric feel, making it crisper and less prone to wrinkling, ideal for fine dress shirts and sheets. However, they can be less soft and more prone to skewing or spiraling in knit fabrics. Additionally, the increased tension can create a fabric with more elasticity and resilience, advantageous in hosiery and performance wear. While offering dimensional stability, high twist yarns may also be more challenging to process and can lead to higher production costs.
