Q
is epoxy the same thing as resin
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Epoxy and resin are terms often used interchangeably but refer to different substances. Epoxy is actually a type of resin, known specifically for its strong adhesive qualities and chemical resistance. Resin, in a broader sense, is a category that includes various synthetic and natural substances with a viscous consistency. Including epoxies, there are polyester resins, vinyl ester resins, and others, each with distinct properties suited to different applications. Polyester resin, for instance, is commonly used in crafting and boat building for its ease of use and lower cost, but it doesn't match epoxy's strength and durability. Therefore, while all epoxies are resins, not all resins are epoxies.
