Q
why is my resin tacky
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Resin may remain tacky after curing for several reasons. The most common cause is an incorrect ratio of resin to hardener, which disrupts the chemical reaction necessary for the resin to properly harden. Additionally, the environment can play a significant role - temperatures that are too low slow down the curing process, while humidity can introduce moisture that prevents curing. Insufficient mixing can also leave parts of the mixture improperly catalyzed. Another possibility is using expired materials, as both resin and hardener can degrade over time and lose effectiveness. To prevent tackiness, ensure accurate measuring, thorough mixing, and optimal curing conditions. If tackiness occurs, covering the sticky surface with a fresh, properly measured and mixed layer of resin can sometimes salvage the project.
