Q
can you put htv on polypropylene
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Applying Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) on polypropylene can be challenging due to the low melting point of polypropylene. Typically, HTV requires a heat range of 305°F to 320°F (150°C to 160°C) to adhere properly, but polypropylene starts to warp and melt at temperatures as low as 266°F (130°C). Therefore, direct application of HTV using standard heat press settings is not advisable. If you must, use a lower temperature and very short press time, testing on a small area first. Alternatively, consider using special heat-sensitive adhesive products designed for lower temperatures or different decoration techniques like adhesive vinyl that doesn't require heat. Always conduct a small test before committing to the full project to avoid damaging your material.
