Q
how to change yarn
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Changing yarn in knitting or crochet is a common necessity, either because you've run out of your current skein or you're changing colors. Here’s a simple method: When you're near the end of your yarn or at the desired color change point, leave a tail of about 6 inches of the old yarn. Then, take your new yarn and lay it alongside your work, leaving a similar tail. Begin to knit or crochet with the new yarn, ensuring both the old and new tails are left hanging for now. After a few stitches, you can continue with your project as usual. Later, weave in these tails with a yarn needle to secure them.
For a seamless transition in crochet, consider completing half of the final stitch with the old yarn, and then pull through the new yarn to complete the stitch, continuing with the new yarn thereafter. This method helps in creating a more blended changeover between yarns.
