Q
where to pull yarn from
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
When choosing where to pull yarn from, you have two main options: from the outside or from the center of the skein or ball. Pulling from the outside is the most straightforward method and ensures that the yarn doesn’t tangle. However, it can cause the yarn to roll and twist as you work, which can be inconvenient. Pulling yarn from the center, also known as center-pull, is preferred by many because it keeps the skein stable and prevents it from rolling away. To find the end from the center, reach into the skein and gently pull out a small bundle of yarn; the end you need is usually in there. While center-pulling can occasionally lead to tangles inside the skein if not done carefully, it generally makes for a smoother knitting or crocheting experience. Your choice might depend on the yarn type and personal preference, as some yarns are easier to start from one end than the other.
