Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) are both polymers widely used in the manufacturing of plastics but differ in their chemical structures and properties. PE is known for its flexibility, durability, and resistance to moisture, making it ideal for packaging, containers, and bottles. It has a simpler chemical structure, comprising long chains of ethylene monomers. On the other hand, PP is characterized by its higher melting point, stiffness, and resistance to chemicals, fatigue, and heat, making it suitable for automotive parts, textiles, and reusable containers. PP contains a methyl group on every other carbon in the chain, giving it these unique properties. While both are recyclable, their applications and recycling processes are distinct due to their different chemical properties.
