CPVC glue, or solvent, is specifically formulated for CPVC pipes, which have a different chemical composition than PVC pipes. Despite the similarities in appearance and name, CPVC and PVC differ in their resistance to temperature and chemicals. CPVC glue is made to withstand the higher temperatures that CPVC can endure. While it is possible to use CPVC glue on PVC as an emergency solution, it's not recommended for long-term or critical applications because it might not provide the same strength and durability as using the correct PVC glue. PVC glue is designed to chemically bond PVC pipes, ensuring a proper seal and connection. For the best results and to maintain the integrity of your plumbing or project, it's advisable to use the glue that matches the pipe material — PVC glue for PVC pipes and CPVC glue for CPVC pipes.
