The Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) is planning a mega expansion plan with respect to chemicals such as Caustic Soda, Chloromethanes, Phosphoric Acid, Hydrazine Hydrate and Chlorotoluene.The company has already planned a Caustic Soda Plant with Coal Based Power Plant in a Joint Venture with NALCO (GACL – 60% and NALCO – 40%). The cost of the plant is Rs. 2,000 crore and as per status – Caustic Soda is 87% complete whereas Power Plant is 72% complete. The Chlorotoluene Plant at Dahej is yet to be implemented. The plant will cost Rs. 120 crore and will have a capacity of 120 TPD.
