Sasol announced the June 19, 2020 achievement of operating profit at its Lake Charles Chemical Project ("LCCP2020") in its Gilbert Alcohol Division. The new Gerbert unit is Sasol's second Gerbert Alcohol production site, the other being the LCCP specialty chemicals unit in Brunsbüttel, Germany. This is the sixth LCCP production unit.The LCCP Ziegler unit achieved operational efficiency on June 16, 2020, expanding the existing Ziegler plant in Lake Charles to add to the existing Ziegler capacity in Brunsbtel, Germany. 

The plant is the largest in the world, producing 173,000 tons of ethanol and 32,000 tons of alumina annually. The Ziegler facility is LCCP China's most complex technology is proprietary and based on Sasol.
