South Korean government bans import of talcum powder with asbestos content exceeding 1%
Yonhap News Agency reported that South Korea’s Ministry of Environment decided to designate talc powder with an asbestos content of more than 1% as a banned item to prevent its manufacture and import. Environment Ministry officials said they would start checking for asbestos content on talcum powder that has not yet gone through customs clearance procedures. Once it is found that the asbestos content exceeds 1%, it will be banned from import.
