Unilever to launch recyclable tubes for oral care in India
Unilever plans to launch fully recyclable tubes in two markets later this year, with the largest oral care markets being France and India.
The company has chosen EPL Limited (formerly Essel Propack Limited), the world's largest specialized packaging company, to achieve 100% sustainability in oral care.
EPL will supply Unilever's toothpaste category with 100% recyclable, fully sustainable APRAPR Platina approved Platina tubes. EPL has HDPE closures Platina Pipe is the world's first APR-approved pipe fully sustainable, fully recyclable pipe.
Through this partnership with Lever Oral Care brands, including Signall, Pepsodent and Close-Up, it will be 100% recyclable by 2025.
Commenting on the partnership, Ram Ramasamy, Chief Operating Officer (COO), EPL Limited, said, "Platina tubing is reducible and recyclable without losing its barrier properties, making it particularly suitable for oral, beauty and cosmetic brands."
