SABIC accelerates growth in Asia with key investments in polycarbonate and new t

An important milestone for the new investment is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sinopec to co-produce 260 kilograms of PCs per year in China.The new polycarbonate production plant will be located at Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Company (SSTPC) in Tianjin, China, and is scheduled to start production in 2015.

The MOU further strengthens the partnership between SABIC and Sinopec. SSTPC was established in October 2009 by Sinopec. SSTPC has been fully operational since 2010 and produces important petrochemical products for customers in various industries in China.

TI and Business Expansion

SABIC has strengthened its presence in the region through two strategic Technology and Innovation (TI) centers in China and India.

TI's center in Shanghai, China will have a footprint of 60,000 New Greater China Regional Headquarters square meters (RHQ). The center will oversee regional operations, sales and marketing, and lead the research and development of new and innovative petrochemical products in Asia.TI's 187,000 square meter TI Center in Bangalore focuses on research in a variety of areas.
