JK Tire announced that it will replace 50% of its coal use with biomass by FY 2024-25.

“However, this shift will require a lot of investment as boilers need to be retrofitted and biomass needs to be supplied on a regular basis,” said Makar.

JK Tires has a total of 12 manufacturing plants, nine in India and three in Mexico, and produces about 35 million tires annually.
