LyondellBasell licenses technologies for new PP, HDPE plants to Inner Mongolia Rongxin
LyondellBasell, the world’s largest licensee of polyolefin technology, today announced that Inner Mongolia Rongxin Company Limited (“Inner Mongolia Rongxin”) will use LyondellBasell’s Spheripol and Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (Hostalen ACP) technologies .
The technology will be applied to a 500 KTA (kiloton) per annum Spheripol polypropylene plant and a 400 KTA per annum Hostalen ACP high density polyethylene plant to be built in Erdos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
“We have chosen a process that produces differentiated polyolefins, including durable goods and infrastructure materials,” said Patrik Schneider, Senior Director of Licensing at LyondellBasell in Rongxin, Inner Mongolia. Schneider adds: “Having the right technology can help operators perform well in a more selective market environment.”
Hu Yun, General Manager of Inner Mongolia Rongxin, said, “Trust and confidence are key factors to consider when selecting technology from the market leader in polyolefin technology. We are pleased to implement this project and look forward to strengthening our relationship with LyondellBasell.” .
Spheripol Technology is the leading polypropylene (PP) processing technology with a licensed capacity of over 35,000 million tons. The latest fifth-generation Spheripollol Technology includes technological enhancements that allow for further operational efficiencies. The plant is scheduled to begin operation with an Avantt ZN catalyst.
Hostalen ACP process technology produces high-performance, multi-peak HDPE resins with industry-leading stiffness/toughness balance, impact resistance, high stress cracking and processability for pressure piping, film and blow molding. The Hostalen ACP plant will begin production of a variety of multi-mode HDPE products using Avant Z501 and Avant Z509-1 catalysts.
