Is PVC material harmful to babies?
Polyvinyl chloride, also known as PVC, is a polymer formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers with initiators such as peroxides and azo compounds, or under the action of light and heat, according to the mechanism of free radical polymerization. Vinyl chloride homopolymer and vinyl chloride copolymer are collectively referred to as vinyl chloride resin.
On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogen released by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) was preliminarily sorted out for reference, and PVC was included in the list of Class 3 carcinogen.
PVC was once the world's largest general-purpose plastic in production and widely used. It is widely used in building materials, industrial products, daily necessities, floor leather, floor tiles, artificial leather, pipes, wires and cables, packaging films, bottles, foaming materials, sealing materials, fibers, and other fields.
Polyvinyl chloride is a commonly used plastic that is composed of polyvinyl chloride resin, plasticizer, and antioxidant, and is not inherently non-toxic. But the main auxiliary materials such as plasticizers and antioxidants added are toxic.
