Global titanium dioxide sales may fall to lowest
Because of the shrinked economy, it is estimated by the leader in titanium dioxide industry, the global demand for titanium dioxide will drop sharply in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Tenor company predicts, the demand for titanium dioxide in the forth quarter of 2022 will decrease around 25%-30% depend on the situation of customer de-stocking. Among these areas, titanium dioxide demand in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region continued to be weak, while North America showed seasonal weakness. It is expected that the demand for titanium dioxide will keep decline, and affects the overall change of the titanium dioxide industry.
John Romano, the co-chief executive of Tenor, said on the company's third quarter investor conference call: "The 25% - 30% decline in demand is based on the order pattern we saw. We have many customers who are obviously using this situation to negotiate for better prices." Romano added that although China's titanium dioxide exports are growing, Some customers are replacing high-price titanium dioxide with low-price Chinese titanium dioxide, but the quantity is not large.
With the rise of energy costs in Europe, two European factories in Konos have implemented production reductions; Tenor plans to cut the capacity of its five European plants, which account for more than half of its titanium dioxide production capacity.
