On August 26, recently, Sovan Roy, director of rubber technical services and business development at Indian carbon black giant PCBL, revealed that the company is actively expanding its presence in the European carbon black market and striving to move from the current global ranking within a few years. Seventh jumped to sixth or even fifth place.

In order to increase its global market share, PCBL has launched a green carbon black project with an annual output of 147,000 tons in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, which will increase the group's total production capacity to 770,000 tons per year. In addition, the company has other projects under construction with an annual production capacity that may exceed 100,000 tons. This includes a new production line with an annual output of 20,000 tons in Mondra, Gujarat, which is put into operation this year, and a planned 90,000-ton annual capacity expansion of the Tamil Nadu plant next year, as well as another new green expansion plan.

It is understood that Europe has become a new strategic market for PCBL and is its main target area for new production capacity. Roy pointed out that the company has established a R & D center and regional offices in Belgium, and established cooperation channels and partnerships in many European countries.

Talking about PCBL's current carbon black export situation, Roy said that the company's current main export market is Southeast Asia, followed by Europe. He further analyzed that if Russia is unable to supply carbon black to Europe, its suppliers are likely to turn to Southeast Asia and China markets, which will lead to increasingly fierce market competition in these regions. In view of this, PCBL plans to increase sales in the European market in order to occupy a more favorable position in the competition.

Although the European Union has banned imports of carbon black from Russia, PCBL managers insist that this will not lead to a shortage of carbon black supply in the European market. He explained that procurement sources will be adjusted and more products will come from India, China or other parts of Asia to ensure stable market supply. In view of this, PCBL is increasing its support for the European market through its R & D center in Belgium in an effort to achieve a greater market share in the region.
