Recently, the Shanxi Province Department of Ecology and Environment accepted the environmental impact report submitted by Hejin City Zhengfan Technology Co., Ltd. for the comprehensive utilization project of fine processing of special carbon black and 150,000 tons of coal tar.
It is understood that the carbon black project is located in the New Coal, Electricity and Aluminum Integrated Industrial Park in Hejin Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a total investment of 985 million yuan. It is planned to be divided into four phases of construction and is expected to be completed in June 2026.
Among them, the first phase of the project includes a new production line with an annual output of 50,000 tons of rubber carbon black and a medium pigment carbon black production line of 22,000 tons, as well as supporting carbon black tail gas power generation boilers and other facilities. The subsequent third phase of the project will cover the construction of 4 new 1000-ton gas-mixed high-pigment carbon black production lines, with an annual output of 38,000 tons and 1 medium pigment carbon black production line of 16,000 tons. After all are completed and put into operation, the project will reach an annual production scale of 130,000 tons of carbon black and 150,000 tons of coal tar fine processing.
The project adopts a variety of advanced processes, including using furnace method + wet granulation process to produce rubber carbon black and medium pigment carbon black, and using mixed gas method + dry granulation process to produce mixed gas high pigment carbon black. In addition, the coal tar fine processing equipment is mainly for deep processing of coal tar to produce anthracene oil, light oil, washing oil, dephenolized oil, industrial naphthalene, sodium phenol salt, modified asphalt, etc. The modified asphalt will be mainly used for electrolytic aluminum. As a binder for carbon tool products such as anodes for aluminum, the main use of anthracene oil is carbon black raw material.
It is reported that in August 2020, four companies including Hejin City Longmen Carbon Black Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Haiyan New Energy Co., Ltd., Shanghai Furui Chemical Co., Ltd., and Hejin City Yumenkou Coking Co., Ltd. jointly funded the establishment of Hejin City Zhengfan Technology Co., Ltd. Relying on the resource advantages of Hejin City Yumenkou Co., Ltd. and surrounding areas, the company invests in the construction of special carbon black and coal tar fine processing projects to achieve a deeper circular economy industrial chain and maximize comprehensive benefits.
