According to Tuduo's statistics, China's sponge titanium output in August 2023 was 17090 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.53%, and a month-on-month decrease of 0.93%; the cumulative output of sponge titanium from January to August 2023 was 144,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 43.71%, and the output increased by approximately 43,900 tons.

Due to oversupply in the market, semi-process enterprises reduced production and stopped production, and some full-process enterprises also limited production. In August, market output decreased again.

In August 2023, China's top three producing regions of titanium sponge in China, Liaoning, Yunnan, and Xinjiang accounted for 28%, 17%, and 16% of China's total output respectively.

The price of sponge titanium is still low. In August, as manufacturers removed more stocks, at the end of the month, national titanium metal issued a letter to increase the price of sponge titanium. The price of raw material magnesium ingots rose at a high level, and the price of titanium raw materials was high. The cost pressure of sponge titanium companies was high, and the market quotation was also strong. At present, the overall market starts are still high, market supply and demand are still unbalanced, and the titanium sponge market is operating under pressure.
