[Soda ash] Soda ash import and export data for May 2024

According to customs data, in May 2024, China imported 75,000 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year decrease of 27.79%, and a month-on-month increase of 17.31%; from January to May 2024, the total imported soda ash was approximately 673,700 tons, an increase of 266% year-on-year, and the import volume increased by approximately 489,800 tons.

In May, soda ash importing countries were: the United States, United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, accounting for 82%, 12%, and 5% of the total imports respectively.

In May 2024, China exported 73,900 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year decrease of 55.93%, and a month-on-month decrease of 18.27%; from January to May 2024, a total of 382,400 tons of soda ash were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 52%, and the export volume decreased by approximately 413,700 tons.

Among them, the top three countries in soda ash exports in May were South Korea, Vietnam, and Indonesia, accounting for 17%, 11%, and 10% of the total exports respectively.
