According to customs data, in October 2024, China imported 35,000 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year decrease of 77.35% and a month-on-month decrease of 12.97%; from January to October 2024, the total imported soda ash totaled approximately 967,200 tons, an increase of 85.89% year-on-year, and the import volume increased by approximately 446,900 tons.
In October, soda ash importing countries were: the United States and United Arab Emirates, accounting for 91% and 8% of the total imports respectively.
In October 2024, China exported 161,700 tons of soda ash, a year-on-year increase of 181.94% and a month-on-month increase of 25.86%; from January to October 2024, a total of 879,000 tons of soda ash were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 34.19%, and export volume decreased by approximately 456,800 tons.
Among them, the top three countries in soda ash exports in October were Bangladesh, Thailand, and Nigeria, accounting for 17%, 14%, and 13% of the total exports respectively.
