According to statistics from Tuduo, China's titanium dioxide output in May 2024 was 413,900 tons, a month-on-month increase of 1.51%, and a year-on-year increase of 23.12%. The total titanium dioxide output from January to May 2024 was approximately 1.9938 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 20.91%, and the output increased by approximately 344,800 tons.
In May, titanium dioxide output reached a high level again, and regional output increased and decreased. Although some enterprises reduced production and stopped production, the relative impact on output was small. However, the increase in early maintenance enterprises and the release of new production capacity, titanium dioxide output increased.
The top three regions in May's output were Sichuan, Shandong and Henan, accounting for 21%, 14%, and 13% of the total output respectively;
In May, the output of chlorinated titanium dioxide was 57,900 tons, a month-on-month increase of 18.77% and a year-on-year increase of 8.79%. The cumulative output of chlorinated titanium dioxide from January to May 2024 was 272,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.21%, and the output increased by 15,900 tons year-on-year.
In the off-season of the market, China's demand is weak, the supply of titanium dioxide is oversupplied, and prices are falling. Currently, the prices of some companies are close to the edge of the cost line, and inventory pressure is increasing. In June, some companies began to reduce production, but the start of major factories still remained high. Titanium dioxide production in June may be basically flat.
