Recently, in the Hami High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the fire was blazing in the smelting workshop of Xinjiang Xiangsheng New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., and workers were busy in front of the smelting furnace. In the finished product workshop, titanium metal ingots, titanium alloy coils, etc. are neatly arranged, exuding the residual heat that has just stepped off the production line.
Hami City is rich in vanadium and titanium resources. The introduced Xinjiang Xiangsheng New Material Technology Co., Ltd. is the only titanium metal smelting and titanium alloy production and processing enterprise in Xinjiang. The production scale of titanium sponge and titanium materials ranks second in the country. The development of Hami's vanadium-titanium industry has not only further improved the development level of Xinjiang's metal materials industry, but also expanded the comprehensive utilization of vanadium-titanium resources in China.
Vanadium and titanium are both rare metals and are widely used in new energy storage, aerospace, ocean engineering, petrochemicals, medical equipment and other fields. Vanadium and titanium resources are scarce resources in the world, especially vanadium metal resources, whose scarcity and importance are comparable to rare earths.
Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province and Chengde City, Hebei Province have always been called the first and second poles in the development of China's vanadium and titanium industry due to their rich vanadium and titanium magnetite deposits and advanced vanadium smelting and processing technology. Nowadays, experts and business representatives in China's vanadium-titanium industry have turned their attention to Xinjiang, which is rich in vanadium-titanium resources, represented by Hami and followed by Bachu County in the Kashgar Prefecture and Qinghe County in the Altay Prefecture. The vanadium-titanium industry in Xinjiang is on the rise.
New breakthroughs have been achieved in prospecting operations. In August this year, geologists from Team 704 of the Autonomous Region Nonferrous Metals Geological Survey Bureau discovered a new vanadium-titanium-magnetite deposit in the Weiya area of Hami City, with predicted resource reserves of 358 million tons and predicted associated titanium resources of 21.5 million tons, reaching the level of a large vanadium-titanium-magnetite deposit. Prior to this, the predicted resource reserves of Hami vanadium-titanium magnetite have reached 2 billion tons, ranking third in the country, and the vanadium-titanium resources contained therein are of high grade. The discovery of a new deposit of Weiya vanadium-titanium magnetite is one of the important achievements achieved in the Hami region in the new round of mineral prospecting strategic breakthrough operations implemented by Xinjiang.
