June 4 news, recently, China Synthetic Rubber Corporation (CSRC) announced that it will join hands with Eco Infinic Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Sheico Group, to build a large-scale recycled carbon black factory in North America. The plant is scheduled to be officially put into operation in 2026 and will become the largest recycled carbon black production base in North America.

The new factory will be located on the site of China Oak's original factory in Phoenix, Alabama, and will be operated through a joint venture. In the joint venture, Eco Infinic will hold 65% of the shares, while China Rubber and its subsidiary Continental Carbon (CCC) will jointly hold the remaining 35%. This cooperation is seen as deepening cooperation between enterprises on both sides of the Taiwan Strait in the fields of environmental protection and resource recycling.

According to the Carbon Black Industry Network, the plant plans to have an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of recycled carbon black, 35,000 tons of tire pyrolysis oil and 2300 tons of steel wire. Production capacity of this scale is expected to effectively alleviate the supply and demand gap in the global tire-grade recycled carbon black and help tire manufacturers achieve their net-zero emission goals. At present, less than 1% of the carbon black used in new tires around the world comes from recycled waste tires, and the market potential is huge.

It is worth mentioning that China Rubber's partner Sheico is a well-known manufacturer of diving suits and water sports suits around the world. By entering the field of waste tire pyrolysis, the company has further broadened the application scope of its environmentally friendly materials. In addition, China Rubber has recently launched an environmentally friendly carbon black technology called "Ouroboros", which uses recycled carbon black and pyrolysis oil in waste tires for reproduction. The performance of the obtained "ecological circulation" carbon black is similar to that of the original carbon black., and has been successfully used in the production of new bicycle tires. This innovation not only improves the recycling efficiency of resources, but also opens up a new path for the green development of the carbon black industry.
