Carbon black industry giant Cabot recently launched a new engineered reinforced carbon black called PROPEL E8, which aims to provide excellent durability at low rolling resistance for tread applications in high-performance tires. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, its unique high weight and high torque place higher requirements on tire performance. Cabot's new product is created to meet these challenges.
Compared to traditional high surface area ASTM carbon blacks, PROPEL E8 achieves lower rolling resistance and higher rigidity and modulus while maintaining wear resistance comparable to ASTM N100 series carbon blacks. This means that tires using PROPEL E8 can reduce energy loss while maintaining excellent road grip and service life, which is undoubtedly a big plus for electric vehicles that pursue ultimate performance and efficiency.
According to Carbon Black Industry Network, Aatif Misbah, Cabot's vice president and general manager of sustainable solutions for the reinforcement materials division, emphasized that PROPEL E8 and its series of products not only help improve tire performance, but also significantly reduce waste and reduce frequent replacement. The need for tires, thus making a positive contribution to promoting the sustainable development of the tire industry.
The launch of PROPEL E8 further improves Cabot's PROPEL E-series product line, which also includes multiple grades such as PROPEL E3, E6 and E7, all of which provide a wide range of options and excellent performance for high-performance tire formulations. In particular, PROPEL E3 carbon black has performed well in reducing hysteresis, providing key support for electric vehicle tires to achieve longer driving ranges.
