Double Star Group leads the tire recycling revolution: used tires turn into "black gold"

Waste tires were once regarded as "black pollution" that was difficult to deal with. However, with the advancement of technology and the deepening of environmental protection concepts, they are gradually being transformed into valuable resources. Chen Xiaoyan, head of the Ixda recycling industry under Double Star Group, recently revealed to us the mystery of this transformation.

Chen Xiaoyan introduced that through advanced recycling technology, used tires can produce carbon black, an indispensable raw material in tire manufacturing. Although this recycled carbon black cannot yet completely replace petroleum pyrolysis carbon black, increasing its use in tire production has significantly reduced carbon emissions. Data shows that compared to traditional carbon black manufacturing methods, the use of recycled carbon black can reduce carbon emissions by up to 81% per ton. It is expected that at least 30% of the carbon black demand in the future can be met by recycling carbon black, and the total amount will reach more than 1 million tons.

Double Star Group is the first among Chinese tire companies to enter this field and has achieved remarkable results. Since 2018, the group has joined forces with many universities and scientific research institutions to overcome many technical problems in the field of waste tire recycling. They have developed green cracking and carbon black recycling technologies for used tires, established a complete recycling system and channels, and developed internationally advanced waste rubber recycling technology. These efforts have allowed used tires to be "eaten dry and squeezed clean" and transformed into valuable products such as oil, environmentally friendly carbon black, steel wire and combustible gas.

According to Carbon Black Industry Network, this innovation by Double Star Group not only improves the company's environmental protection level, but also brings new business opportunities to it. At present, the environmentally friendly carbon black produced by the group has been widely used in its own factories and supplied to more than 200 customers, covering tires, conveyor belts, hoses, seals and other fields. In addition, internationally renowned brands have also taken the initiative to engage and cooperate with Double Star.

The Ixda Green Ecological Recycling Demonstration Base project invested and constructed by Double Star Group in Qingdao Dongjiakou Economic Zone has become the world's first demonstration factory integrating green ecological recycling, recycled rubber, intelligent equipment and overall plans. The project processes 30,000 tons of used tires annually. By applying independently developed intelligent green cracking equipment and technology, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 27,700 tons per year. This achievement provides "Chinese wisdom" and "Chinese solutions" that can be used for the transformation and upgrading of the global waste rubber recycling industry.

Experts pointed out that Double Star Group is in a leading position in the industry in terms of technological innovation and autonomy. In the current environment where the industrial chain is not yet mature, the development of China's waste tire treatment industry still faces many challenges. Double Star Group's continuous, intelligent and modular cracking technology has achieved 100% utilization of used tires, setting a model for the green development of the industry. If this treatment method can be adopted for 12 million tons of used tires across the country every year, it will create huge economic value and social benefits in the field of waste tire recycling and recycling.
