Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., located in Tianjin Economic Development Zone, is an active explorer of waste heat recovery and utilization.
In recent years, the company has made remarkable achievements in the field of carbon black production. It has not only implemented efficient energy utilization strategies on the production line, but also made important contributions to energy conservation and emission reduction. Their waste heat recovery system has been in operation since the first carbon black production line was put into use in 2006, completely recovering and reusing the waste heat of tail gas generated during the production process.
This waste heat recovery and reuse strategy not only effectively solves the problem of tail gas emissions and reduces environmental pollution, but also significantly reduces the company's operating costs. Cabot Chemical's approach also includes supplying recycled surplus steam to other companies, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions from relying on coal-fired boilers. It is understood that the company has a total of 7 sets of waste heat recovery devices in the carbon black production line and energy center, which not only achieves efficient heat exchange, but also produces high-quality steam.
The relevant person in charge of Cabot Company said that through these waste heat recovery devices, the company can use waste heat to produce more than 1 million tons of steam every year, of which about 70% is supplied to external companies, meeting the needs of more than 50 companies.
In addition, the company recently decided to invest in the installation of a 6-megawatt back-pressure turbo-generator set, which is expected to be put into use in 2025 to achieve cogeneration and further improve energy efficiency and environmental benefits.
According to the person in charge of Cabot Company, through this efficient energy utilization and waste heat recovery method, the company can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tons per year. This energy management strategy featuring cogeneration not only improves the company's energy efficiency, but also provides greater adjustment flexibility, allowing steam production and power generation loads to be adjusted at any time as needed.
