Recently, the European Commission announced that due to a complaint filed by the European Titanium Dioxide Ad Hoc Coalition (ETDC) in September this year, anti-dumping procedures have been officially launched to investigate the dumping and industrial damage of Chinese titanium dioxide to the EU.
According to foreign media, ETDC is temporarily formed by manufacturers of the Titanium Dioxide Alliance to safeguard industry interests. The organization believes that in the past few years, the mainland of China titanium dioxide has been highly dumped on the European market, which has made EU producers unsustainable. They expect a dumping margin of 45% to 65%. Mainland exporters have publicly promised to unplug some production lines and reduce installed capacity, but this has forced several European factories to stop production, which has led to the EU's increased reliance on imported key raw materials. ETDC also stated that alliance production capacity can guarantee 90% of the EU's demand and has a variety of import alternatives. The organization's implicit meaning is that after the formal implementation of anti-dumping, China's export share will not exceed 10% of the EU market, or even lower.
