Recently, the 4N-level high-purity magnesium semi-continuous demonstration device developed by Baoti Group Equipment Technology Company and Xi'an Jiaotong University was officially delivered at the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Port. Wu Jianwen, general manager of Equipment Technology Company, led the team to participate in the demonstration device acceptance and delivery meeting.
It is reported that metallic magnesium has excellent biocompatibility and strong reducibility, and has great application potential in emerging degradable biomedical implant materials, high-purity strategic metal (titanium, zirconium, hafnium) reductants and other fields. However, the corrosion resistance and other properties of magnesium and magnesium alloys are extremely sensitive to impurities and their combinations, and the impurity elements therein can be passed on to downstream products, resulting in a sharp increase in post-processing costs of downstream products for certain special purposes.
In recent years, Baoti Group Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., in conjunction with the research team of Professor Shan Zhiwei of Xi'an Jiaotong University, has, after years of dedicated research and scientific research, absorbed and digested the "impurity containing gasification, gradient condensation, adsorption, filtration, and net dense crystallization" series of technologies, developed and manufactured the "10 tons/year Mg99995 high-purity magnesium semi-continuous production demonstration device". It is expected to achieve low-cost and large-scale stable preparation of 99.995% high-purity magnesium. In 2020, planning and technical research and verification of corresponding principles will be started; in 2022, the design of the project plan will be officially started and has gone through eight rounds of demonstration and review; in January this year, the demonstration device began equipment manufacturing, and was installed in the base in August., debugging, and officially delivered in November.
At the acceptance and delivery meeting, Baoti Group Equipment Technology Company and the Xi'an Jiaotong University research team approved the design and acceptance indicators of the device one by one. Preliminary tests showed that the demonstration device met and partially exceeded the design indicators, marking that the demonstration device will enter a new stage of process debugging and trial production. At the same time, the two parties also conducted a review and summary of the basic design principles of the device, key difficulties in device design and manufacturing, etc., which provided valuable experience for the subsequent two parties to continue to play the joint role of industry, academia and research and iteratively upgrade the high-purity demonstration device.
