July 20 news, according to the latest statistics released by the Japan Carbon Black Association, Japan's carbon black production and shipments both showed a downward trend from January to April 2023. Carbon black production totaled 185,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2%, while cumulative shipments were 183,200 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2%. In addition, carbon black exports in the first four months of this year were 16,300 tons, a decrease of 20.9%, while cumulative imports were 39,300 tons, a decrease of 13.9%.
Further analysis of data shows that as of April 2023, carbon black output was 43,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.7%. Among them, the output of carbon black for rubber was 41,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.3%; while the output of carbon black for non-rubber was 2,800 tons, but there was an increase of 2.8%. As for carbon black shipments, they reached 46,300 tons in April, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%. Among them, shipments of carbon black for rubber were 44,100 tons, down 2.6% year-on-year; while shipments of carbon black for non-rubber were 2,200 tons, down an astonishing 25.7%.
