Foreign news reported on June 28 that the Indian government said on Wednesday that it has listed 30 minerals including nickel, titanium, vanadium and tungsten as "key minerals" to promote the development of clean energy.
The federal government of India has previously listed 12 strategic minerals, including lithium, a key raw material for the production of electric vehicle batteries. Earlier this year, the country discovered lithium resources in Jammu and Kashmir.
India's Minister of Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi said the government has also asked Jammu and Kashmir to hold an auction of lithium mining rights as soon as possible.
Indian Mining Minister Vivek Bharadwaj said the government hopes to find more lithium mineral resources in the region later this year.
The Indian government said the 30 identified minerals will be key to India's clean technology ambitions in electronics, telecommunications, transportation and defense.
"We plan to develop a policy framework for the exploration, processing, use and recycling of key minerals," Pralhad Joshi said.
