According to customs data, in May 2024, China imported 14,500 tons of carbon black, a year-on-year decrease of 47.34%, and a month-on-month decrease of 54.41%; from January to May 2024, China imported a total of 123,000 tons of carbon black, an increase of 15.09% compared with the same period last year, and imports increased by approximately 16,000 tons.
The top three regions for carbon black imports in May 2024 are: Russia, Belgium, and South Korea; accounting for 51.5%, 10.3%, and 7.7% of the total imports respectively.
According to customs data, China's carbon black exports in May 2024 were approximately 52,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 16.92%, and a decrease of 9.6% month-on-month. From January to May 2024, China's cumulative exports of carbon black were 364,200 tons, an increase of 42.71% over the same period last year, and the export volume increased by approximately 109,000 tons.
Among them, the top three regions in carbon black exports in May 2024 are: Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, accounting for 28.7%, 19.3%, and 13.2% of the total exports respectively.

According to customs data, China imported approximately 12,600 tons of high-temperature coal tar in May 2024, a year-on-year increase of 7.16% and a month-on-month decrease of 0.52%; from January to May 2024, the cumulative import volume was approximately 62,000 tons, an increase of 5.47% compared with the same period last year. The import volume increased by 3,200 tons, of which the top two regions in terms of high-temperature coal tar imports in May were Malaysia and Vietnam.
