Russia's total PP production in January-November fell by 2.6% year-on-year
According to the MRC ScanPlast report, Russian polypropylene (PP) production fell by 2.6% year-on-year in January-November.
Despite the overall decline, only two of the seven Russian producers reduced PP production.
In November, the production of local Russian producers increased to 91,100 tons, and in October, problems in some factories still existed, with a production of 75,700 tons.
Russia's total PP production reached 1.24 million tons in the first 11 months of 2018, compared to 1.27 million tons in the same period last year. Only Sibur Tobolsk and Ufaorgsintez reduced uptime, while other manufacturers managed to increase production.
During the period, the PP production structure is as follows:
Due to the problem of propylene, Sibur Tobolsk had to cut capacity utilization in November.
The total production of polypropylene increased from 8,400 tons in October to 18,700 tons, when the plant was shut down for three weeks.
The total PP production at the Tobolsk plant reached 389,400 tons in the first 11 months of 2018, down 16% year-on-year. Two regular maintenance shutdowns this year caused a drop in production.
In November last year, Omsk Poliom (Titan) produced about 17,600 tons, compared with 11,600 tons a month ago. The factory suspended PP production in early October for 10 days.
During the reporting period, the total PP production of the plant was approximately 195,200 tons, an increase of 4% year-on-year.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim produced 17,800 tons of propylene polymer last November, compared with 18,800 tons a month ago.
From January to November 2018, the producer's PP production increased from 193,300 tons in the same period last year to 197,300 tons.
Tomskneftekhim produced about 12,400 tons in November and 12,800 tons in October. The plant's total production in the first 10 months of 2018 was 128,900 tons, almost the same as 2017.
Ufaorgsintez's PP production increased from 3,500 tons in October to 9,700 tons in November. Due to raw material problems, the company stopped production for one month in September 20 and early November.
The total polymer production at the Ufa plant fell to 107,900 tons from January to November 2018, compared to 113,500 tons in the same period last year.
Neftekhimiya (Kapotnya) produced about 10,200 tons of PP last month and 11,900 tons in October. From January to November, the total PP production of the plant reached 121,200 tons, an increase of 28%.
The lower indicator for this year was due to the long-term maintenance work in March-April.
Stavrolen (Lukoil) suspended production last month and carried out short-term overhauls of the unit. Total polypropylene production fell to 7,600 tons from 8,700 tons in October. The total production of propylene polymers in the Budnovsk plant reached 9.99 million tons in the first 10 months of 2018, compared to 92,300 tons in the same period last year.
