Analysis on PVC production and operating rate in the first half of 2022
Analysis on PVC production: In the first half of 2022, the cumulative domestic PVC production from January to June was 11.2365 million tons, a decrease of 268,000 tons (-2.33%) compared to the same period last year. The decline was mainly due to the relocation of the Daguchang plant, unexpected shutdowns at Inner Mongolia Zhonggu and Tianjin LG Chlor-Alkali companies in the first quarter, as well as concentrated maintenance of devices in May and June under a relatively weak market environment, particularly causing a significant decrease in production in June.
Analysis on PVC production areas in the first half of 2022: PVC production areas in the first half of 2022 were mainly distributed in Northwest, Shandong, North China and East China, of which Northwest accounted for 55.20%, Shandong accounted for 14.14% and North China accounted for 9.53%.
The overall construction rate from January to June in the first half of 2022 has declined compared to the same period last year. Among them, the construction rate in March was the highest in the first half of the year, while the construction rates in February and May to June have shown significant downward trends. The reason for the decline in February construction is based on the aforementioned production volume reasons, while the decline in construction from May to June is due to PVC companies shutting down to avoid risks. From the construction rates of the two process routes, the construction rate for the calcium carbide method is still much higher than that of the ethylene method enterprises.
