NOF has developed a water and oil repellent product that does not contain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and silicone
NOF has developed water-repellent and oil-repellent products that do not contain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and silicone, including types with excellent long-term water repellency and types with both water-repellency and oil-repellency. In addition, since some materials use plant-derived raw materials, they are expected to be sustainable. NOF's "MODIPER WR series" uses a newly developed highly water-repellent monomer that is partially derived from plant oils and does not contain PFAS. "MODIPER WR100" has excellent water repellency and a transparent, light yellow appearance, suitable for applications with long-term water resistance.
"MODIPER WR300" is colorless and transparent, allowing water drops to slide off at an angle of 36 degrees, and has demonstrated good oil repellency in oil repellency tests such as the KIT method and AATCC. In addition to water repellency, "MODIPER WR300" also has excellent oil repellency and is suitable for use in clothing that requires anti-fouling such as human sebum. Both contain 20% of active ingredients and can be dissolved in various polar solvents except methanol and water. Dilute to 1-10% with solvent, spray or dip, and form a water-repellent and oil-repellent film after drying at room temperature or heat. No crosslinking agent is added, and the polymer component can adhere tightly to the substrate. "MODIPER WR series" is expected to meet the demand for PFAS alternatives or silicone-free products, and is suitable for paper, fiber, leather, anti-fouling coatings and other uses.
