Japan's Okuno Pharmaceutical has developed two silica-based coatings that do not contain perfluorinated/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
Okuno Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. of Japan has developed two silica-based coatings that do not contain perfluorinated/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including the non-sticky antifouling coating "Top Cerarelease IG-1" and the food utensil coating "Top Cerarelease FG-1" that complies with the Positive List system.
"Top Cerarelease IG-1" can be applied by spraying, and a transparent silica-based coating is obtained through a 150°C heat treatment. In addition to having the same non-stickiness, antifouling, and water-repellent and oil-repellent properties as general fluorine coatings, the film layer also has excellent corrosion resistance. The recommended film thickness is 5 to 10 μm and the film hardness is 3H to 5H. "Top Cerarelease IG-1" consists of three liquids, namely base, curing agent and non-tackifier, and does not contain fluorine compounds. It can meet the requirements of PFAS-related regulations and is expected to be widely used in molds, piping, industrial machinery and other fields.
"Top Cerarelease FG-1" complies with the positive listing system related to food utensils and container packaging. After heat treatment at 200℃ for 30 minutes, a transparent coating can be obtained. "Top Cerarelease FG-1" complies with PFAS regulations, has non-stickiness equivalent to fluorine coatings, and has excellent oil resistance and corrosion resistance.
