Beckers Group announces opening of FutureLab in Liverpool, UK to advance development of next generation coil coatings
Beckers Group announces the opening of FutureLab in Liverpool, UK. This state-of-the-art facility will drive the development of next generation coil coatings. The new building effectively doubles the capacity of Beckers’ long-standing development division. This enhances the company’s ability to produce more sustainable coatings.
Incorporating cutting-edge features
FutureLab features several new pieces of equipment that will be key to future developments. These include enhanced UV/EB coatings. Cutting-edge sustainability features have been incorporated into its design and construction, including: Beckers’ own thermal control coating on the roof to reduce the energy required to heat the building, activated carbon filtration systems on VOC exhaust stacks, and heat pumps to reduce CO2 emissions associated with heating. In addition, a custom experience room is ready to welcome all customers and partners who are keen to work with Beckers on future developments. These features not only enhance the functionality and efficiency of FutureLab, but also align with Beckers’ commitment to pioneering positive impact and innovation in the industry.
Driving Sustainability and Innovation
The center aims to be a hub for creativity, collaboration and cutting-edge research, while contributing to society by promoting education and local employment opportunities. “FutureLab represents a major leap forward in our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Gavin Bown, Chief Technology Officer. “This state-of-the-art facility embodies our commitment to pioneering new technologies and sustainable practices that will lead the coatings industry toward a brighter, more responsible future. I am delighted to unveil FutureLab and excited for the groundbreaking work that begins here,” added Bown.
On September 26, 2024, Jenny Lindén Urnes, owner of Lindéngruppen, and Fabio Pedrazzi, CEO of Lindéngruppen, inaugurated FutureLab at a full-day event. The event included demonstrations, a tour of the new facility, and a discussion about the future of sustainable innovation at Beckers.
