AkzoNobel Launches Anti-corrosive Powder Coating for Commercial Vehicles
AkzoNobel launches Interpon A5000 powder coating range to provide reliable, consistent and durable protection for commercial vehicles from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers seeking performance and durability.
Interpon A5000 is a range of powder coatings for chassis, bodywork and commercial vehicle components that meet customer needs. It provides high levels of corrosion protection in harsh environments, with a durable finish in a choice of long-lasting colors, protecting a manufacturer’s brand reputation. It is a reliable product for OEMs that will be consistent around the world.
From trucks and trailers to buses and specialty vehicles, commercial vehicles need powder coating solutions that are as tough as the parts they protect. The comprehensive range includes primers, topcoats and clearcoats, as well as coatings designed to withstand multiple challenges. These include damage caused by corrosion and UV light, or by chemicals such as gasoline, diesel, oil and other chemicals.
The range also includes products with lower curing temperatures, which reduce production times, energy consumption and waste, while ensuring consistently high levels of performance and quality. In addition, powder coatings are free of volatile organic compounds and generate virtually no waste, as any overspray can be recycled and reused.
Commercial vehicle manufacturers are also looking for solutions that support their sustainability goals, reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and costs. The range is designed to support sustainability. Powder coatings are easy to apply for a right-first-time finish, helping to accelerate production volumes and avoid costly rework.
At the heart of the range is Interpon A5500 powder coating, a smooth primer that is ideal for truck cab bodies, front grilles and bumpers. It is more durable than ‘traditional’ alternatives, thanks to the absence of VOCs and the flexibility of the coating process. It serves as a perfect base coat not only for powders, but also for a liquid topcoat, allowing manufacturers to exploit the benefits of both coatings.
Martina Lösgen, global segment and key account manager ACE and CV, said, “The Interpon A5000 range is recognized by many OEMs and manufacturers for its reliability and performance, but also for the flexibility and efficiency it can bring to their operations. Our partnership enables manufacturers to combine protection, color and a classy finish to their vehicles.”
To complete the range, AkzoNobel also offers effective technical support to help OEMs, and their suppliers optimize their powder coating application lines and the Interpon solutions they choose.
