The precipitated barium sulfate of "Yun" brand belongs to colorless orthorhombic crystal or white amorphous powder. The relative density is 4.50 (15 °C). Melting point 1580 °C. It is almost insoluble in water, ethanol, and acid. Soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, easy to agglomerate when drying. Barium sulfide can be reduced by carbon at 600 °C.
It is used as fillers for various water-based coatings, oil-based coatings, and powder coatings, ink, paper-making, housing materials, plastics for building materials, high-grade electric paper, insulating plastics, rubber products, cathode expansion agent for batteries, and ceramic glaze materials.
