Taizhou Maritime Authorities Escort 4,200 Passengers Safely Back from Dachen Island

As Typhoon No. 13 "White Dolphin" approaches this year, wind strength in the coastal waters of Taizhou is gradually increasing. To ensure the safety of island travelers, the Taizhou Maritime Bureau has proactively planned, scientifically coordinated, and fully organized the evacuation of passengers from Dachen Island. As of 15:30 on August 4, the last high-speed passenger ship "Qingda 9" safely departed Dachen Island carrying over 200 passengers. Today, a total of more than 1,500 passengers returned from Dachen Island, marking the successful completion of the pre-typhoon evacuation efforts. From August 2 to 4, maritime authorities safely evacuated approximately 4,200 passengers from the island.

As a popular tourist destination in Taizhou, Dachen Island experiences high passenger traffic during the summer vacation. Maritime authorities proactively coordinated with the Dachen Town government and shipping companies, conducted early assessments of the number of travelers on the island, scientifically adjusted ship schedules, and guided passenger ship companies to increase evacuation trips while ensuring safety, achieving the goal of "evacuating everyone, leaving no one behind." In response to this typhoon defense effort, the Taizhou Maritime Bureau closely monitored typhoon developments, promptly activated the typhoon emergency response plan, and disseminated typhoon warning information through multiple channels such as VTS, SMS platforms, and WeChat work groups. They promptly informed port and shipping companies, vessels, and passengers in the jurisdiction about the typhoon's path and wind impact.

During the evacuation, Taizhou Maritime Bureau law enforcement personnel were stationed at the passenger terminals throughout the process, maintaining order for passengers boarding and disembarking ships, and strictly inspecting for illegal activities such as passenger ship overloading and carrying hazardous materials. Drones escorted passenger ships in and out of the port, while systems like AIS and radar monitored vessel navigation dynamics in real time, promptly reminding passing ships to actively avoid the evacuation routes, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of evacuation routes.

Next, the bureau will continue to strengthen patrols and inspections in the jurisdiction's waters, urge docked vessels to implement typhoon prevention measures, prepare for emergency rescue operations, and make every effort to fortify the safety defense line against typhoons on the water.
